Crossing the Mighty Mississippi

Here we are crossing the Mississippi. My Dad, who travels West fromNorth Carolina yearly mentioned the change in density of people once you cross the Mississippi. I have to agree,it is strange to be the only car on the highway after living so long in DC, where, no matter what time of day (or night) there are always quite a few cars.

Our Aunt Jan's Big 7-0

Part of our trip West also included a stop at my beloved Aunt Jan's house. I hope I can have the spunk and energy she has when I am 70.

Detroit City for the Daughters of Macomb and the Morisette family reunion

During our trip West, we also stopped in Detroit fora visit with my husbands family. While we were there, the Daughters of Macomb had their annual parade and 'meeting'. To be a "Daughter of Macomb" you need to have been born in Macomb County,Michigan or lived there for over 20 years. So, sadly,I do not qualify. The daughters parade around Mount Clemens,Michigan one day a year, then they sometimes take a boat or meet at a localbar and take it over for the whole day for their meeting. As you can imagine, after a whole day of drinking the crowd becomes a bit raucous. Looks like a fun time.

Coat of Many Colors

This is a piece that is eight years in the making. It is a community arts piece called "Coat of Many Colors". I worked with several members of the congregation at St.Johns Episcopal Church in Beltsville, Maryland. They stitched, sewed and donated fabrics for this piece which is 155"x100" and now hangs in the fellowship hall at the church.
