York Central Market

During my visit to York, Pennsylvania to do the installation for YORKARTS Arts & Industry show, I ate several times at the York Central Market. This market is typical for the East Coast. Historically, they have been places for farmers and other trades people to sell their items. More famous markets are located in Washington DC (Eastern Market), Philadelphia (Reading Terminal Market), and Baltimore (Lexington Market). I really didn't expect to find one in little old York. But I did find a great one with lots of stories.

My favorite was a little shop called JR's Fresh Cut Fries. I was told by the staff at Yorkarts that JR's was their favorite place to go because it had "The best customer service in York." They were right. The guys at JR's hooked me up with the best fries I have had in a long time. We talked about Colorado and the market and during the course of our conversation, I found out that these guys not only run this great stand in the market, but that they also work full time at the local Harley Davidson plant. WOW! Talk about great local business! These guys were great. Here are a few photos of the stand and the market. Enjoy!

Finished Pieces for Arts & Industry

The pieces for the Arts & Industry show are done, thanks to the many helping hands of employees of Adhesives Research. The white installation is called "Marrow" it is made using double sided foam tape from AR. The color field piece is called "Tape-estry" it was created with the help of employees of AR using a variety of scrap material from their factory. Working with the Adhesives Research crew was a valuable component of this project, it brought in the community of the company to help in the production and creation of the artwork. The opening is tomorrow, October 2nd from 6:00-8:00 at Yorkarts in York, PA. Come out and see the pieces and meet the artists! (I guess you will have to come to see the pieces, because blogger isn't letting me upload the photos. I will do it as soon as I can)
