NPR story on Cursive!!

Heard this on my way back from installing my "Good Penmanship" show at the Community Creative Center in Fort Collins, CO.  The NPR story talks about cursive being taught less and less in our public schools.  This is exactly why i created this series of work!!!

The show looks great and I have already sold four pieces!  Please be sure to come to the reception for this show on April 4, 2014 from 5-9pm.

Good Penmanship Postcard

I am getting excited about the "Good Penmanship" show!  This show celebrates cursive letters.  When I found out that cursive is being taught less and less in schools, I decided to create an 'Ode to Cursive'.  I hand embroidered designs using the lowercase letters as a design element.  The upper case letters are created using sewn fabric strips adhered together to show the flow and organic nature of each letter.  The lowercase letters measure about  3" in diameter and the uppercase pieces are about 2' each.  All 52 pieces will be exhibited (In alphabetical order, of course!) in the Community Creative Center at 200 Matthews Street, Fort Collins Colorado April 2-April 5, 2014.  There will be an artists reception April 4th from 6:00-9:00.  I will have pencils and paper on hand for you to practice your cursive a bit!  Hope to see you there!
