I am doing a felting residency at Brockbridge Elementary in Anne Arundel County,MD. The emphasis is for the entire school to create one piece of art as a community. The K-4 are making elements (Nose, eyes, hair,mouth) With which, the 5th grade students will use to create a self portrait. The final piece will be a tapestry of faces that will hang at the school.
It is a great opportunity not only to teach felting, but also the concept of community art in a context that children (and parents) can understand. Once the final piece is done, I will post an image.
