Olympic Art

A while back, a couple of friends called me up after a few beers and asked me what I thought was the best moment in sports history. Now, they knew sports is not my gig, but still they asked. So, my answer was the opening ceremonies at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002. They were not pleased with my answer. But, really, the Olympics are a time when art and sport converge. It is a chance for the host city to celebrate their athletes as well as their artisans. It is also a time to honor the native people who lived before us. I love it, for all of its cheese and glamor. So, tonight, enjoy the opening ceremonies and let the games begin!
